Lomond Radio Club

This is the fun section of our website which will hopefully grow and grow, but to get it off to a good start here is the coolest electric motor I have ever seen. Firstly I would like to thank Douglas Brown GM8FFH for demonstrating this at the club meeting.

You will need:

 a battery, an AA works fine

a yale type key, brass keys are no use, it has to steel or something that is magnetic

a magnet, the best ones to use are the Neodymium rare earth type, and it has to be round

and about 6" of wire.

The picture above clearly shows how to set them up, battery at the top, then the key and the magnet at the bottom, the magnet sticking to the key makes it magnetic which allows it to stick to the negative end of the battery, all you have to do now is connect the positive end of the battery to the edge of the magnet and the results are,,,,,,,,,,, watch the video below or try it yourself and have fun.
